Kim Nelson—OSHA Just Left! What Now?
Kimberly has currently lived in Northwest Ohio since 2005. She returned to her roots after graduating from the University of Louisville and spending over 20 years in Kentucky. Ms. Nelson conducted health inspections for Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Administration for twelve years before taking a position with Federal OSHA as an Industrial Hygienist in 2005. Over the years, she progressed in her career with Federal OSHA and held numerous positions to include, Compliance Assistance Specialist, Assistant Area Director and Finally Area Director. She been the Area Director since August 2011.
Kimberly has been acknowledged for her leadership skills by the Department of Labor in 2009 when she received Regions V’s leadership award. In addition, she received a Secretary Exceptional Achievement Award in April 2008. Kim is well rounded in the safety and health field, however, her discipline and educational background has its’ emphasis in industrial hygiene. She has led and supervised complicated inspections in various industries to include: process safety management, combustible dust/grain handling and steel mills/foundries.
